The owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, found out that a deputy who was gunned down was a big fan of his team so he wrote this letter to his family.

Deputy Robert French was shot while on duty in Sacramento, CA and has since died. Well, when Jones found out about this tragedy he wrote this heartfelt letter to Deputy French's family.

The slain deputy's wife shared the letter on Twitter and you can see how much it meant to she and her family during this difficult time.

Job well-done, Mr. Jones! This is just another reason why I love sports. At times its the sports world that can lift up those that need support.

Deputy French will be laid to rest on Thursday, Sept. 21 and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
