The worst kept secret in the Sun Belt Conference is a secret no more.

As expected, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns will be headed to the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl for the fourth straight year.  The official invitation came at halftime of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns basketball game against Jackson State Wednesday night.

With the football team on the court at halftime, the fourth straight invitation to the bowl was issued.  It took head coach Mark Hudspeth very little time to accept the bid on behalf of the university and the football team.

Louisiana went 8-4 in the regular season for the fourth straight year and they are hoping the bowl game will give them four straight years of nine wins total.  The Cajuns have defeated San Diego State, East Carolina and Tulane in the last three bowls.  It is uncertain who the Cajuns opponent will be this time around.  Nevada and Utah State from the Mountain West Conference have been mentioned as well as Rice from Conference USA.  The opponent will be known no later than Sunday.

Meanwhile, ticket orders by RCAF members can be made on the ragincajuns.com website with Friday the deadline for priority orders.  There is no limit to the number of tickets that can be purchased.

The other two bowls contracted to the Sun Belt also made their invitations official today as Arkansas State accepted its fourth straight bid to the godaddy.com bowl in Mobile on January 4th, 2015.  South Alabama got its first ever bowl invitation and will play in the inaugural Raycom Media Camellia Bowl on December 20th at 8:15pm.

Georgia Southern, the champion of the league, is not bowl eligible because they are in the final year of transition from the FCS to the FBS.  They appealed the rule which was denied and filed another appeal after they won the outright league title.  The NCAA rejected the appeal yesterday, paving the way for the announcement.

The lineup leaves Texas State, who finished 7-5 on the year, hoping for an at large berth in a bowl that might have a contractual opening.
