Acadiana has always been all about family.

And, so has Ragin’ Cajuns football.

Whether is a dad and his son throwing the football, the family getting together to tailgate, a family game of washers or bean bags or sitting on a blanket in the north end zone, family fun is what Ragin’ Cajuns football has always been about.

Now, the Cajuns are offering their young fans an opportunity to have fun on the field as well with the Cajun Kid Dash.

Before each home game, kids will get the opportunity to run the length of the playing field and score a touchdown just before the band and the team do their own run out.

“We are always looking for ways to enhance the already great environment at our home games – especially when it allows families and children to become more involved in the actual event, Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs Rob Stewart said,   “This is why we are excited about adding the Cajuns Kids Dash into the pre-game experience at Cajun Field. Kids now have the opportunity to come through the tunnel, run across the field and score a touchdown! “

Here’s how your child can participate:

*Meet at the South End Zone gate behind the bell tower no later than 30-45 minutes before kickoff.

*Parents with children 6 and under will be able to escort their child while they dash.

*At the end of the run, children will exit the field onto the grassy hill in the north end zone (stairs will be provided.)

*The UL ROTC will be stationed at the start and finish of the dash

*The first 100 kids to line up will get a FREE T-SHIRT for participating.

I think this will be something that will really catch on with Ragin’ Cajuns fans and become a tradition that creates lasting memories for years to come,” Stewart said.  “We  appreciate McDonald’s for helping make this promotion possible.”

And, there’s something to help with the financial obligation of bringing the family to the game:  Discounted tickets.

For each home game, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns athletic department is offering a $5.00 discount on all game tickets bought in advance.  That means a family of four will save $20.00 simply by buying tickets prior to Game Day.  Tickets are available during the week at the Cajundome Box office.
