It wasn't unanimous.  But it was awfully close.

Ken Griffey, Jr. set a record by being named on 99% of the ballots and was elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame.  He was named on 99.3% of the ballots (437 out of 440.)

Joining Griffey in the Hall will be Mike Piazza, who was in his fourth year of eligibility.

Griffey becomes the first overall #1 pick to be elected to the Hall.  Piazza, meanwhile, was taken in the 62nd round.

Griffey was a 13 time all star who ranks sixth on the all-time home run list with 630.  He also won ten Gold Gloves, tied for third most among outfielders. He's one of three players to hit 500 home runs and win 10 Gold Gloves, along with Willie Mays and Mike Schmidt,

Just missing out on the 75% necessary were Jeff Bagwell .(71.6 percent), Tim Raines (69.8) and Trevor Hoffman (67.3).  Hoffman was in his first year on the ballot.
