NFL teams cut their rosters down to 75 this week, and former Ragin' Cajuns James Butler, Melvin White and Jacob Maxwell were some of the victims.

Butler's trip in Green Bay proved to be a short one, while White was cut after spending some time getting to know the life in Charlotte. Maxwell fought hard to break into a packed tight end grouping in Detroit, but they decided he wasn't going to be seeing the Lion's share at any point. Roster cut days force some of the hardest organizational decisions for coaches and GM's, but it's always harder for the players.

All three former Cajuns' football hopes aren't over though. There is still some time left for other teams to take fliers on them, and at very worst, practice squads will need to be filled.

The fact of the matter is, today was a rough day for three hard working men, who were trying desperately to get noticed and stick around. Show them some love in proper Cajun fashion. With youth on their side, comebacks are always an option.

On a bright note, their fellow Cajun buddies Alonzo Harris, Christian Ringo and Justin Anderson all survived the slimdown of NFL rosters. Their battle is still fully on.
