Dodgers File for Bankruptcy Protection

The Dodgers.

Since anyone can remember, they've been one of professional sports most respected franchises.

Beloved in Brooklyn.  National League Pennants.  Their first World Championship in 1955.

In Los Angeles, under the auspices of the O'Malley family, the Dodgers continued to be the model for a Major League Franchise.  Attendance records.  Pennants in 1959, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1974, 1977, 1978, 1981, 1988.  World Series Champions five more times.

Today that storied franchise filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in a Delaware court.

The espn.com article says, according to the Dodgers, the move will free up $150 million dollars to keep the team afloat while trying to secure a TV deal that can be approved by Major League Baseball.
