The New Orleans Saints lost a tough one on Sunday in week one at home to their NFC South rivals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 48-40 that shocked a lot of people.

Despite the loss, the Saints remain in the top 10 of the NFL powers this week and many believe that the lack of defensive presence will be corrected sooner rather than later. They will still be considered one of the favorites in the NFC this season, there's a lot of football left to be played but that loss didn't sit well.

Coming into the season the Saints ranked third but this week they've fallen six spots down to ninth in the latest ESPN NFL Power Rankings.

The Top Five is as so:

  1. Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) Steady at 1
  2. New England Patriots (1-0) Steady at 2
  3. Minnesota Vikings (1-0) Up one from 4
  4. Los Angeles Rams (1-0) Up two from 6
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0) Up two from 7

I'd say the biggest surprise from this list is that the Jacksonville Jaguars, who I didn't think looked all that great against the New York Giants but they did hold on for the 20-15 road victory. It's hard to see much movement so early on in the season, we really don't know how things are going to play out, and what injuries are going to occur.

For the Saints, the loss was disappointing but like I said earlier, it's much too early to panic, it's only one game. We saw this defense play much better last season but I think because of that, the fact they got beat up right out of the gate surprises us even more. Dennis Allen and the guys will get it figured out, there are a lot of new pieces to the puzzle on D and it may just take some time to settle in.
