Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team defeated the defending national champion Oklahoma Sooners twice on Saturday, with the same pitcher in the circle for both...Christina Hamilton.

How good was the Junior in the victories? Hamilton held the Sonners to one run and five hits in both games combined. She finished with a 0.50 ERA, allowing 8 base runners over 14.0 innings pitched.

For her efforts, Hamilton was named the Sun Belt Conference pitcher of the week today.

"The game rewards you for your persistence," head coach Michael Lotief said of Hamilton.  "She has been relentless and was awarded this week.  A lot of people see it as what she has done against a certain opponent but I see it as a kid who has committed herself to the process with a lot of hard work.."

Hamilton is the second Ragin' Cajun softballer to earn conference player of the week honors. Sophomore Lexie Elkins was named SBC player of the week after week 1.

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns welcome Sam Houston State to Lamson Park on Wednesday, with first pitch of Game 1 set for 4:00. Steve Peloquin will have the call on our sister station, Talk Radio 960, and talkradio960.com. Pre-game begins at 3:45.
