Cajuns to Face Three Lefties This Weekend at UTSA Classic
Well, this weekend we’ll see if Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns can hit left-handed pitching.
The Cajuns will play Gonzaga, Kansas and Texas-San Antonio this weekend at the UTSA Classic to be played at Wolff Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.
And, all three teams will start a left-hander.
Sophomore Marco Gonzales (1-0, 2.77 ERA) will start for Gonzaga on Friday, Freshman Wes Benjamin (1-0, 0.68) pitches for the Jayhawks on Saturday and sophomore Michael Kraft (1-1. 7.20) goes for the Roadrunners on Sunday.
The Cajuns will counter with senior right-hander Jordan Nicholson (1-0, 1.50) in game one, junior lefty Chris Griffitt (1-1, 4.15) on Saturday and freshman right-hander Austin Robichaux (0-0, 1.80) on Sunday. Joe Zimmerman, who started the first two Fridays, is being held out this week with a groin injury.
Friday’s game will begin at 2pm and will be carried on ESPN1420 beginning at 1:30. The times are the same for Saturday, but that game will be on News/Talk 96.5 KPEL-FM. Sunday’s game is also on 96.5 KPEL-FM with an airtime of 3:30.
