Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball catcher Lexie Elkins was named an NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) first team All-American two months ago. Now, she's been named the 2015 Diamond Sports Division I Catcher Of The Year by the NFCA.

Elkins hit an impressive 32 home runs this year as a junior to lead the NCAA and set a new record for the storied Louisiana program.

She also led the nation in RBI per game (1.54), finishing with 83 on the season.

Her work behind the plate was lauded by her teammates. Pitcher Jordan Wallace credited Elkins with catching all the wild pitches "nobody notices".

Louisiana is coming off a 42-12 campaign and a trip to the NCAA Super Regionals.
