No.  Preseason polls don't really mean anything.

And, as all coaches will say, "It's not how you start, it's how you finish."

But, if you're a fan of Ragin' Cajuns Baseball, you want to know where your team starts.

And, the answer, in the Collegiate Baseball Poll, is Number Six.

The Cajuns are the highest ranked Louisiana team and the highest ranked Sun Belt team, according to the poll.  And, if the poll is any indication, the Cajuns are going to face many tough challenges this year.

Louisiana will play six different teams that appear in the Preseason Top 40:  The Cajuns will meet #7 LSU, #15 TCU, #19 Tulane, #20 Rice, #37 South Alabama and #39 Texas Tech.  And, only one of those games (Tulane) will be at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Florida, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Miami (FL) and Texas A&M were the top five teams in the poll.

In addition, the Cajuns will face five other teams:  Troy, Texas State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Mississippi and Sam Houston State, all of whom received votes in the preseason poll.

That's a total of 21 games against teams that are getting preseason love.

The Cajuns' season opens Friday, February 19th, when former Cajuns' assistant Matt Deggs brings his Sam Houston State Bearkats to M. L. "TIgue" Moore Field.
