Cajun PG Elfrid Payton Named Preseason All American

Louisiana Ragin' Cajun junior point guard Elfrid Payton was recognized on the 2013 Lou Henson Preseason All-America team.

While Payton is prepping for the 2013-14 season, he had quite the Summer, winning a gold medal with U.S. FIBA U19 basketball team. Payton started for the club, propelling them to a World Championship.

Before winning gold, Payton was playing ball in China and the Far East as a member of Reach USA basketball, a sports ministry.
"Elfrid really opened some eyes over the summer around the basketball world and people finally understand what a truly sensational player that he is," Louisiana head coach Bob Marlin told ragincajuns.com. "He has learned a lot from his experiences this summer and I look forward to an outstanding year from him."
