Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun football team won their 8th straight game on Saturday, thanks in large part to two outstanding performances.

Freshmen running back Elijah McGuire (pictured) became the first player in program history to rush for 100+ yards, and receive for 100+ yards in the same game. McGuire finished Saturday's win over Georgia State with 11 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and 3 catches for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns. Three touchdowns and 232 yards total was good enough for the Houma native to be named Sun Belt Conference Offensive player of the week.

McGuire is currently leading the nation in average yards per carry with 9.1 on 75 rushes.

Joining him for player of the week honors is teammate Trae Johnson. The junior linebacker started in place of an injured Tig Barksdale, and played well, leading the team in tackles with a career-high 12 tackles (10 solo) including two tackles for losses, earning him Sun Belt Conference Defensive POW honors.

"I am excited for both young men," said head coach Mark Hudspeth to ragincajuns.com. "Both of them played outstanding and helped us go on the road to get a conference victory. I know they would be the first guys to give their teammates credit because that's the kind of guys they are."

Louisiana has next Saturday off before playing their final home game of the season on Saturday, November 30th, against ULM. Kickoff is set for 6:00.
