Buffalo Bills' assistant coach Aaron Kromer, who served as acting head coach of the New Orleans Saints during Sean Payton's suspension, has been suspended for six games for violating the NFL personal conduct policy.

Bills President Russ Brandon made the announcement Sunday night.

Kromer will leave the team when the regular season opens and will be eligible to return in time for the Bills' Week 7 game against Jacksonville, scheduled to be played in London.

Kromer was accused of punching a boy in the face back on July 11 in a dispute over beach chairs. He also allegedly threatened to kill the boy's family.  Kromer's son Zachary was accused of placing his hands on another boy during the altercation.

The charges were dropped last week.

Before going to Buffalo, Kromer was the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears for two seasons.
