10 Best Dunks of the NBA Season (Thus Far)
The NBA all-star break began after Thursday night’s games, with the NBA All-Star Game scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26 in Orlando (7:30 PM ET; TNT-TV). Though the preseason labor dispute between the players’ union and owners forced a compressed NBA schedule, the NBA’s greatest players have continued to throw down spectacular dunks. Here are 10 of the best dunks of the NBA season so far.
Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers has become the most spectacular dunker in the NBA. This resounding dunk over noted Oklahoma City tough guy Kendrick Perkins on January 30 is among Griffin’s best dunks ever.
LeBron James may be the best basketball player in the world. Much of the acclaim given to James is because of his athleticism, which he shows here against the Chicago Bulls on January 29.
An underrated dunker, Paul George of the Indiana Pacers is a contestant in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest on Saturday. This dunk against New Jersey on January 31 is one of his best.
Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder is a big scorer, but he’s becoming a big dunker as well, as he shows on this jam against Sacramento on February 9.
It often seems that Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers has at least one great dunk each game. The hang time on Griffin’s dunk against Denver on February 22 makes it even more amazing.
The Washington Wizards have had few highlights in the first half of the season. Point guard John Wall’s dunk against Boston on January 2 is one of them.
LeBron James of the Miami Heat is nearly impossible to defend, as Milwaukee found out on February 13.
Derrick Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves is a contestant in this year’s NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He shows his dunking skills off on this jam against San Antonio on January 2.
Blake Griffin… Again
Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers has had enough great jams this year to have his own Top 10 list. This alley-oop dunk against Washington on February 15 is among his best this year.
Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks became one of the biggest story lines of the NBA season. Part of his incredible rise was throwing down this dunk against Washington on February 8.
