Avery Johnson Let Go by Nets
It’s really a “what have you done for me lately” business.
Brooklyn Nets coach Avery Johnson was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for October when his team won 11 of its first 14 games.
But the Nets have won only three of their last 14 and that stretch has cost Johnson his job.
Johnson was fired with is team sporting a 14-14 record. The Nets made the announcment Thursday. P. J. Carlesimo has been named the interim coach.
Part of the issue for the Nets was an injury to center Brook Lopez. In his absence, the Nets were just 2-5 in his absence. But they’ve also been 2-5 since his return, prompting the club to make the change.
