The 2015-2016 college football bowl schedule was released on Sunday, with 40 games scheduled between December 19 and January 2, prior to the College Football National Championship Game, which is set for January 11.

Clemson, Alabama, Michigan St., and Oklahoma are the four teams that will be vying for the title this year, and all will be involved in semifinal action on New Year's Eve.

Clemson will take on Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl, while Alabama meets Michigan St. in the Cotton Bowl.

The two winners advance to the title game, which will be played in Glendale, Arizona on Monday, January 11.

The LSU Tigers are headed to the Texas Bowl, where they will play the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

LSU will enter the game at 8-3, while Texas Tech will bring an overall record of 7-5 in the match-up.

Kickoff time for the Texas Bowl is set for 8 o'clock on Tuesday, December 29, at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Four Sun Belt Conference schools will be involved in bowl play this year, including regular season league champion Arkansas St., who will be taking on Louisiana Tech in the New Orleans Bowl on Saturday, December 19.

That same day, Appalachian St. will make their first-ever bowl appearance, which they play Ohio in the Camellia Bowl.

Another team making their bowl debut, Georgia St., is headed to Orlando, Florida to take on San Jose St. in the Cure Bowl on that Saturday as well.

Finally, a third league school appearing in a bowl game for the first time, Georgia Southern, will play Bowling Green in the GoDaddy Bowl, which will take place on Wednesday, December 23.

Due to a lack of bowl-eligible team, three teams with losing records (Nebraska, Minnesota, and San Jose St.) will be playing in bowl games.

One other bowl note; Nevada and Colorado St., two teams from the Mountain West Conference, will play in the inaugural Arizona Bowl, set for Tuesday, December 29.

Again, the match-up is happening because of the lack of bowl-eligible teams.

The bowl will mark the first time since Nebraska and Oklahoma met in the 1979 Orange Bowl that two teams from the same conference will play in a non-BCS bowl game.
