20 teams from the Acadiana area remain alive in the nine classifications of the 2013 LHSAA football playoffs, with seven hosting second round games this week.

In Class 5A, Acadiana and New Iberia are in the Sweet 16 round.

Acadiana, the top-seed, moved to 10-1 on the year, with a convincing 35-7 win over Slidell last week.

The Wrecking Rams will host 16th-seeded Ponchatoula this Friday night.

7th-seeded New Iberia advanced by defeating West Jefferson, 44-12.

The Yellow Jackets, who are now 9-2 on the year, will play host to 10th-seeded Zachary this week.

Breaux Bridge, Crowley, and Westgate are the three Acadiana area schools left in the Class 4A bracket.

9th-seeded Breaux Bridge, who shutout Tara, 35-0, in the opening round, will travel to meet 8th-seeded DeRidder in the second round.

Crowley, the 15th-seed, eliminated 18th-seeded Peabody last week, 20-13, and will travel to face 2nd-seeded Karr this week.

Westgate, who is seeded 16th, beat Eunice, 23-7, last week, and advances to face top-seeded Neville.

Jennings, Church Point, Kaplan, and Northwest are the four Acadiana schools remaining in the Class 3A bracket.

5th-seeded Jennings eliminated Jena, 37-14, last week, and will now host 12th-seeded Westlake.

9th-seeded Church Point, who outscored Eleanor McMain, 65-44, in a shootout last week, will travel to 25th-seeded Donaldson in the second round.

Kaplan, who is seeded 11th, beat Mansfield, 46-6, in the opening round, and will be on the road to take on 6th-seeded Richwood in round two.

Northwest, the 16th-seed, slipped past 17th-seeded Buckeye, 47-45, in the first round, and now has to travel to face top-seeded Livonia.

Loreauville is the lone team from Acadiana left in the Class 2A bracket.

The 5th-seeded Tigers, who defeated 28th-seeded DeQuincy, 63-28, last week, will be on the road to take on 21st-seeded Northeast this week.

Basile is the lone hope remaining from the Acadiana area in the Class A bracket.

Basile, the 5th-seed, will play host to 13th-seed Louisiana New Tech-Plain Deal this week, after drawing an opening round bye.

The Division II bracket is highlighted by three teams from the Acadiana area still in contention, including Notre Dame, St. Thomas More, and Teurlings Catholic.

Notre Dame, the 3rd-seed, beat Thomas Jefferson, 62-0, and now moves on to host 6th-seeded Parkview Baptist this week.

5th-seeded St. Thomas More rolled past St. Michael the Archangel, 59-17, in the opening round, and now must travel to face Evangel in the second round, a team they defeated, 26-0, in week four of the season.

Teurlings, who is seeded 7th, cruised past Vandebilt Catholic, 44-7, last week, and now must travel to face 2nd-seeded University Lab, a team they lost to, 41-15, earlier in the year, this week.

Catholic-New Iberia and Opelousas Catholic are the two hopes from the Acadiana area in the Division III bracket.

Catholic-New Iberia, the 6th-seed, routed Dunham, 50-9 in an opening round win, and will now travel to 3rd-seeded Northlake Christian in the second round.

10th-seeded Opelousas Catholic edged past 7th-seeded Newman last week, 28-26, and will next travel to 2nd-seeded Calvary Baptist.

Finally, in the Division IV bracket, Vermilion Catholic, St. Edmund, Highland Baptist, and Sacred Heart-Ville Platte are all alive and well.

Top-seeded Vermilion Catholic, who drew an opening round bye, will host 16th-seeded Central Catholic-Morgan City this week.

St. Edmund, the number five seed, who also drew a bye in the opening round, will host 12th-seeded Ascension Catholic this week.

11th-seeded Highland Baptist, who advanced with a 28-8 win over Houma Christian in the opening round, will travel to face 6th-seeded St. Frederick in the second round.

Sacred Heart-Ville Platte, the 15th-seed, eliminated 18th-seeded Lafayette Christian last week, and will be on the road to face second-seeded Ouachita Christian this week.
