July 6, 2012 6:30 AM When someone has to debate whether or not a sanctioned sport is actually a real sport, the game in question is already the biggest loser of the discussion. The truth is, not every endeavor should be considered sport.
Mademan.com has put together a list of the 10 sorriest excuses for sports, beginning with “race walking.” If the name of the sport is an oxymoron, it’s a guaranteed to make this list.
The fact that this “sport” has been in the Olympics for over 100 years is as laughable as its rules. Professional walkers (I can’t type that without laughing) must have one foot on the ground at all times, while also keeping their legs straight. This causes the “walking competitors” to shimmy their hips in a way that actually makes the simple task of walking look ridiculous. On a sidenote, the Olympmic trials of “race walking” were held in a parking lot across from the stadium. I walked in a parking lot today. Where is my Gold medal dude?
