In a stunning move, Western Kentucky University has hired Bobby Petrino to be its new head football coach, replacing Willie Taggart.

According to Chad Bishop of the Bowling Green Daily News, a press conference will be held at 4pm to announce the hire.

Petrino's name had been linked as a possibility to replace Gus Malzahn at Arkansas State, but those talks didn't lead to an offer.

Petrino was fired by Arkansas in April after being involved in a motorcycle accident just south of Fayetteville.  It was later learned his mistress, Jessica Dorrell was a passenger on the motorcycle, a fact Petrino hid from his boss.

It was also learned Petrino hired Dorrell to work as the student-athlete development coordinator at Arkansas.

He also coached the Atlanta Falcons, a team he left 13 games into his first season without notifying his players.  He also coached at Louisville.

Taggart resigned his job over the weekend to become the new head coach at South Florida.
