Will a local softball product finish the season leading the nation in home runs?

Well, it is very possible.

Alabama's Bailey Hemphill, who prepped at St. Thomas More, has put up some big numbers, so far, in 2019.

A junior utility player, who has seen most of her time this season at catcher and designated player, after playing primarily at first base last year, Hemphill has 19 home runs this season, which puts her in a tie for 5th in the country, just two behind the nation's leaders.

In addition, Hemphill is hitting a .349, to go along with 61 runs batted in, which ranks second in the country.

A starter in all 46 games for Alabama this season, Hemphill has struck out only 10 times in 129 at-bats, while walking 34 times.

At her current pace, Hemphill would end the season with over 25 homers and 90 RBI's.

A 2017 selection to the SEC All-Freshman Team, Hemphill was tabbed a second-team All-SEC and a second-team All-South Region pick last year.

A two-time (2015 & 2016) NFCA High School First-Team All-American at St. Thomas More, Hemphill was named Miss Louisiana Softball in her senior season.

During her time in the prep ranks, STM won back-to-back state titles in 2013 and 2014.

We wish Bailey continued success.
