There is some really sad news regarding a Sun Belt Conference head football coach this morning.

A day after taking a leave of absence to be with his wife, Wendy, who was dealing with breast cancer, Arkansas St. head football coach Blake Anderson announced this morning that she has died, following a long, courageous battle with the disease.

Wendy Anderson was diagnosed with triple-negative stage four breast cancer in 2017 and has gone through multiple treatments to address the disease. The family announced in March that the cancer has spread to her liver, lungs and lymph nodes. Anderson addressed his wife's health at Sun Belt Media Days in July.

Blake Anderson, who worked as an assistant coach at Louisiana in 2007, has been the head coach at Arkansas St. for the last five years, compiling an overall record of 39-25.

Blake Anderson married Wendy in December of 1992.

Wendy Anderson, who was 49 years old, is survived by her husband, two sons, and a daughter.

Our thoughts and prayer go out to coach Anderson, along with his family and friends in this difficult time.
