ESPN's Adam Schefter is now reporting that Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams spurned the Tennessee Titans request for an interview regarding their head coaching vacancy.

Jim Wyatt of the Tennesseean newspaper in Nashville reported that the Titans received permission to talk to Williams. However, Williams never agreed to an interview, according to multiple sources.

Schefter, who originally reported that Williams would interview on Thursday, said Williams withdrew from Titan head coaching consideration, citing loyalty to the Saints and to former Titans coach Jeff Fisher, whom he considers his closest friend in the business.

This is undoubtedly great news for the Saints. Williams has transformed the Saints defense into one of the most solid units in the NFL. He is a players coach. Jonathan Vilma and the rest of the Saints defense is probably as happy as Who Dat fans to hear the news of Williams staying put.
