Louisiana Ragin' Cajun pitcher Summer Ellyson continues to lead the nation in an important statistic.

A junior right-hander, Ellyson entered this week with 23 wins (excluding Wednesday night's game against Southeastern Louisiana), which is the most at the NCAA Division I level.

Florida's Kelly Barnhill ranks second, with 21 wins.

The only other two pitchers who entered the week with at least 20 victories are Troy's Leanna Johnson and UCF's Alea White, both with 20.

A former prep standout at Teurlings Catholic, Ellyson recorded her 23rd victory of the season last Saturday, in UL's doubleheader sweep over UTA the second-consecutive year she has reached the 20-win mark,

An All-Sun Belt Conference selection last season, Ellyson currently leads the league in wins (23), ERA. (1.18), opposing batting average (.156), innings pitched (166.1), games started (27), and strikeouts (199).
