UL Women’s Basketball Falls To FIU, 78-48
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team lost their seventh-consecutive game, after falling to the FIU Panthers, 78-48, on Saturday at the Cajundome.
UL got off to a slow start, allowing FIU to jump out to a halftime lead of 35-12, a lead which they never relinquished.
The Panthers out-shot the Cajun from the field 55%-31%, as well as out-rebounding them, 42-28.
Jerica Coley, the Sun Belt Conference's leading scorer, led the way for FIU with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Fanni Hutlassa was right behind her, with 21.
In a losing cause for the Louisiana, Josie West had high honors, with 15 points.
With the win, FIU improved to 12-6 overall, and 2-3 in Sun Belt Conference play, while UL fell to 5-12 overall, and 0-5 in league play.
