UL Women Fall To FIU, 64-63, In Overtime
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's basketball suffered their seventh-consecutive defeat on Wednesday evening, falling, 64-63, in overtime, to the FIU Panthers, in a Sun Belt Conference match-up played at Earl K. Long Gym.
FIU led at the half, 27-25, before Louisiana came back to bring the game into overtime, at 56-56.
FIU then out-scored UL, 8-7, in the extra frame, to escape with the one-point win.
The Panthers out-shot the Cajuns from the field, 51%-45%, and also finished with a 33-26 rebound advantage.
Jerica Coley led FIU, scoring a game-high 34 points, while Keke Veal paced Louisiana in a losing cause with 15 points.
With the triumph, the Panthers completed a two-game season sweep of the Cajuns, having won, 63-47, in Miami, Florida back on January 5, and also handed UL their first overtime loss of the year, after winning their first two.
With the victory, FIU improved to 12-7 overall, and 6-4 in Sun Belt Conference play, while Louisiana fell to 7-13 overall, and 1-10 in league play.
