In case you haven't noticed; the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are off to one of their quickest starts in recent women's basketball history.

Louisiana has won five of its first six games, the best start since the 2015-2016 season.

That 2015-2016 group went on to a 10-1 start, prior to beginning the year 14-2, on way to accumulating 25 wins and a Women's Basketball Invitational Championship.

How successful this team will be remains to be seen, but there's no question they're much-improved, only two victories shy of last year's win total.

Tonight, the Cajuns will try to make it six wins in seven tries when they play host to the Xavier (Louisiana) Gold Nuggets in no-conference action at the Cajundome.

Tipoff time is set for 6 pm, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on ESPN 1420, espn1420.com, and the ESPN 1420 mobile app beginning with the pregame show at 5:45 pm.

Xavier is an NAIA school, but don't let that mislead you, as they come in with an 8-4 record, with wins over the likes of McNeese St., Southeastern Louisiana and New Orleans.

Monday's meeting will be the seventh all-time between the two programs, with Louisiana leading, 4-2. The two schools last met on Dec. 1, 2016, with the Cajuns coming away victorious, 74-55.

Sophomore guard Brandi Williams leads Louisiana in scoring, averaging 16.0 points-per-game, while junior center Ty Doucet is averaging 13.3, to go along with a team-leading 8.3 rebounds.
