The 15th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns put another "W" in the win column on Friday.

Louisiana defeated the North Florida Ospreys 8-6, in the second day of play in the 32nd Louisiana Classics at Lamson Park.

The triumph, along with UL's 4-0 over Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday, improved their record in the Louisiana Classics, which dates back to 1987, to an amazing 123-16-1.

The victory also improved Louisiana current win streak to a modest three games.

North Florida got on the scoreboard first, scoring three runs in the top half of the first inning, when Tiffany Lower drove home three runs with a two-out triple, to give them a quick 3-0 lead.

Louisiana answered right back in the bottom half of the frame, scoring six runs on six hits.

UL got a run-scoring single by Kara Gremillion, an RBI groundout off the bat of Kynadi Tipler, a big two-out, two-run double by Caitlin Garcia, and a two-out, two-run single by pinch-hitter Beth Ashley, to give them a 6-3 advantage.

The Ospreys drew closer in the top half of the 4th inning, scoring a run on a two-out single off the bat of Navia Penrod, to trim the deficit to 6-4.

Louisiana put the game out of reach in the bottom half of the 4th inning however, scoring twice, courtesy of an RBI double by Tipler, and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Casidy Chaumont, to widen their lead to 8-4.

North Florida, refusing to give up, scored two runs in the top half of the 7th inning, one coming when Kayla McGory doubled home a run with two outs, before Lower drove home a run with a bases loaded walk, to make it 8-6, with the bases loaded and two outs.

That was as close as the Ospreys would get however, as the Cajuns held on for the 2-run win.

Louisiana, who outhit North Florida, 11-9, was paced at the plate by Dalton, who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Ashley, Tipler, and Garcia all drove in two runs apiece.

Casey Dixon (2-0) recorded the win in the circle for the Cajuns, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits over 4.0 innings.

Kylee Jo Trahan pitched the final three innings, allowing two runs, to record her second save of the season.

Morgan Blourne (2-3) suffered the loss for the Ospreys, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits in only one inning of work.
