The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns extended their current softball win streak on Wednesday night.

10th-ranked Louisiana defeated the McNeese Cowgirls, 4-0, in a non-conference affair at Joe Miller Field in Lake Charles.

With the win, UL avenged a 5-4 setback to McNeese back on March 20th, the last time the Cajuns lost a game, and ran their current win streak to seven games.

Louisiana got on the scoreboard first, plating three runs on two hits in the top half of the first inning, courtesy of a sacrifice-fly off the bat of Bailey Curry, an RBI ground out by Lexie Comeaux, and a run-scoring single by Alissa Dalton, to grab a quick 3-0 lead.

UL added another run in the top half of the 3rd inning, when Sarah Hudek blasted a solo home run, her 8th of the season, to widen their lead 4-0.

That turned out to be all the scoring in the game, as the Cajuns went on to the 4-0 shutout triumph.

Louisiana, who outhit McNeese, 7-2, was led at the plate by Dalton, who went 3-for-3 with a run scored and a run batted in, while Hudek went 2-for-4 with a homer.

Summer Ellyson (21-4) recorded the win inside the circle for the Cajuns, tossing one-hit shutout softball over 5.0 innings, while striking 9 batters.

Caroline Settle (4-7) suffered the loss for the Cowgirls, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits over 1.0 innings of work.

With the victory, the Cajuns improved to 30-4 on the season, while McNeese dropped to 17-21.

Louisiana returns to the diamond on Friday evening, when they host the UTA Mavericks in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference series.
