The 21st-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns recorded a big win on Monday.

Louisiana defeated the 24th-ranked Texas St. Bobcats at Lamson Park, 3-1, in the rubber game of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series.

The two teams spilt a doubleheader on Sunday, with Texas St. winning the first game, 4-0, in 8 innings, before the Cajuns came back to take game two, 5-1.

The triumph extends UL's current conference series win streak to 43-straight, dating back to March of 2013.

Louisiana got on the scoreboard first, plating two runs in the bottom half of the first inning, courtesy of a run-scoring groundout by Kara Gremillion and a sacrifice-fly off the bat of Kourtney Gremillion, to give them a quick 2-0 lead.

The Cajuns added to their lead in the bottom half of the third inning, when Kara Gremillion doubled with two outs, prior to scoring on an RBI single off the bat of Lexie Comeaux, to widen their advantage to 3-0.

Texas St. scored their first, and only run, in the top half of the fourth inning, when Hailey MacKay hit a solo home run, her second of the series, and 9th of the season, to trim the deficit to 3-1.

That would be all Texas St. would get however, as the Cajuns went on to the 3-1 victory as well as the series win.

Louisiana, who outhit Texas St., 7-4, was paced at the plate by Alissa Dalton, who went 3-for-3, while Kara Gremillion, Kourtney Gremillion, and Comeaux all drove home runs.

Summer Ellyson (14-6) recorded the win in the circle for the Cajuns, allowing only one run on four hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 5.

Kylee Jo Trahan recorded the final two outs to pick-up her third save of the season.

Randi Rupp (19-7), suffered the loss for the Bobcats, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits over 6.0 innings pitched.

With the victory, Louisiana improved to  their overall record to 28-11, overall, and 14-4 in Sun Belt Conference play, while Texas St. dropped to 31-10, and 12-2, respectively.

The Cajuns return to action on Wednesday evening, when they travel to Lake Charles, La. to face the McNeese Cowgirls in non-conference action, beginning at 6 pm.
