The Sun Belt Conference softball series win streak continues for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.

10th-ranked Louisiana defeated the Georgia Southern Eagles, 6-3, in the middle game of a three-game, weekend, league series in Statesboro, Georgia on Saturday afternoon, running their current win streak to five games.

Coupled with their win over Georgia Southern in the series opener on Friday night, UL extended their league series win streak to 50, a school and Sun Belt Conference record.

Louisiana has not dropped a conference series since the weekend of St. Patrick's Day in 2013.

The Cajuns, who also defeated Georgia Southern, 2-0, on Friday evening, have now outscored the Eagles, 8-3, in the series.

With the triumph, UL also ran their Sun Belt Conference win streak to 11 games to begin this season, while improving their overall league win streak to 16 games, dating back to last year.

Louisiana got on the scoreboard first, plating four runs on three hits in the top half of the first inning, including an RBI single by Raina O'Neal, a sacrifice-fly by Bailey Curry, and a two-run single off the bat of Kara Gremillion, to grab a quick 4-0 lead.

UL added another run in the top half of the 2nd inning, when Alissa Dalton walked, before  later crossing the plate, to widen their lead 5-0.

Georgia Southern got on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the 2nd inning, plating two unearned runs, courtesy of run-scoring singles by Mekhia Freeman and Faith Shirley, to trim the deficit to 5-2.

The Cajuns scored another run in the top half of the 3rd inning, when Kara Gremillion walked, before later scoring on a two-out single by Dalton, to make it 6-2.

The Eagles drew closer in the bottom half of the 4th inning, scoring an unearned run, their third of the contest, to get them to within 6-3.

That wrapped up the scoring however, as Louisiana went on to the 6-3 win.

Louisiana, who was actually outhit by Georgia Southern, 7-6, was led at the plate by Kara Gremillion, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI's, while Dalton scored twice and drove home a run of her own.

Carrie Boswell (6-0) recorded the win inside the circle for the Cajuns, tossing 6.2 innings without allowing an earned run.

Summer Ellyson came in to get the final out, to record her first save of the season.

Jodi Handler (1-2) suffered the loss for the Eagles, allowing 4 runs on 1 hit without recording an out.
