The 9th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team was victorious in postseason play on Thursday, defeating the Georgia St. Panthers, 13-1, in the second day of play in the 2016 Sun Belt Softball Championship at Jaguar Field in Mobile, Alabama.

Louisiana, the regular season league champions, and the top-seed in the tournament, used an 11-run second inning to help them cruise to a 5-inning, mercy-rule win over 4th-seeded Georgia St.

The win marked the fourth-straight for the Cajuns over Georgia St., after sweeping a three-game series from the Panthers earlier this year in Atlanta, Ga.

Louisiana got on the scoreboard first, pushing across two runs in the bottom half of the first inning, when sophomore outfielder Aleah Craighton delivered a clutch two-out single to right, scoring senior second baseman Hayley Hayden. On the play, the ball was bobbled by the right-fielder, which also allowed senior outfielder Shellie Landry to score, giving them UL a quick 2-0 lead.

Georgia St. scored their first run of the game in the top half of the second inning, when Brenna Skalsi singled, and later scored on a two-out throwing error, to trim the deficit to 2-1.

The Cajuns erupted in the bottom half of the second inning, scoring 11 runs on 6 hits.

Every player in Louisiana's line-up scored in the inning, as they 16 hitters to the plate, as they went on to the 12-run, 5-inning, mercy-rule win.

The Cajuns, who outhit the Panthers, 9-3, were led at the plate by Hayden, Craighton, and senior designated player Sara Corbello, who each had 2 hits, while Craighton drove home 3 runs.
