The season-opening home win streak for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns now sits at 15 games.

10th-ranked Louisiana defeated the Troy Trojans, 8-0, in 5-inning mercy-rule fashion, in the final game of a three-game, weekend, league series at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park on Sunday.

It was the third-straight game Louisiana defeated Troy in mercy-rule fashion.

The triumph completed a three-game sweep over Troy, after winning the first two games of the series on Friday and Saturday, by scores of 9-1 and 8-0, respectively, in 6-inning contests.

Those wins in the first two games of the series extended UL's league series win streak to 48, a school and Sun Belt Conference record.

Louisiana has not dropped a conference series since the weekend of St. Patrick's Day in 2013.

The Cajuns ended up outscoring Troy, 25-1, in the three-game set.

With the triumph, UL also improved their 2019 home record to a perfect 15-0.

Louisiana, who fell to Texas St., 5-2, in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament title game last season, has now won 20-straight regular season home games.

Louisiana got on the scoreboard first, plating two runs in the bottom half of the first inning, when Bailey Curry doubled home two runs, to grab a quick 2-0 lead, the third-consecutive game in the series that the Cajuns scored in the first inning.

The Cajuns extended their lead in the bottom of the third inning, when Kara Gremillion walked, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error, and then scored on a sacrifice-fly off the bat of Curry, to widen their advantage to 3-0.

UL put the game completely away in the bottom half of the 4th inning, scoring twice more, courtesy of a two-run home run by Lexie Comeaux, her 6th of the season, to make it 5-0.

Louisiana ended it in the bottom half of the 5th inning, when Curry crushed a two-run homer, her 3rd of the season, as well as her 4th and 5th RBI's of the game, to give them the 8-0 mercy-rule win in 5 innings.

Curry led the way at the plate for UL, going 2-for-2 with a homer and five RBI's, while Comeaux added a homer.

Summer Ellyson (17-3) recorded her third win of the series inside the circle for the Cajuns, her 8th win over the last 10 games, tossing 5.0 innings of four-hit shutout softball.

Leanna Johnson (12-5) suffered the loss for Troy, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits over 4.0 innings of work.
