Jordan Wallace

The 12th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team won their seventh-consecutive game on Wednesday evening, defeating the McNeese St. Cowgirls, 5-1, in non-conference action at Cowgirl Diamond in Lake Charles.

Louisiana scored four runs in the first inning, thanks to a solo home run by Brianna Cherry, and then a three-run shot by Shellie Landry.

That was more than enough by sophomore pitcher Jordan Wallace, who picked up her sixth victory of the year, against no defeats, allowing only four hits, and one run, while striking out 13 in seven innings of work.

With the effort, Wallace is now a sparkling 33-2 in her college career.

Offensively, Cherry, Nerissa Myers, and Matte Haack, all collected two hits, while Landry drove in three runs.

With the victory, the Cajuns improved to 8-1, while the Cowgirls fell to 8-5.

Louisiana returns to the diamond on Friday, taking on Michigan and South Florida in the first day of the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida.
