The 10th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun softball team returns to the diamond on Friday, playing host to the Georgia St. Panthers in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference series at Lamson Park.

The contest will mark the beginning of a string of six of the next seven games that Louisiana will play at home.

First-pitch is scheduled for 5 o’clock.

The two teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.

The Cajuns are currently 27-5, overall, and 12-3 in Sun Belt Conference play, after two of three games from Texas St. last weekend in San Marcos, Texas.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .337, along with 60 home runs, 226 runs batted in, and 46 stolen bases in 56 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 257-63.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 1.89, compared to a 8.10 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .161 batting average against.

Georgia St. has lost five-straight, and will enter the series at 23-12, overall, and 5-4 in league play.

The Panthers are currently hitting a .339 as a team, along with 56 homers, and 231 RBI’s, while out-scoring opponents, 254-182.

In the circle, Georgia St. currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 4.93, while holding opponents to a .269 batting average against.

Louisiana leads the all-time series, 3-0, including a three-game sweep of Georgia St. last season in Atlanta, Georgia.
