Christmas shopping can be pretty costly, especially with a large family. A recent survey by Onepoll indicates nearly half (46%) of American parents will forgo buying one another a Christmas gift in order to concentrate on the kids. Nearly 60% say they’ll probably overspend.

That means people need extra cash. How do they raise it? Here are some things people typically do. 33% Will take extra shifts at work. About 30% will open one or more new credit cards. One in four will skip vacation to save up for Christmas shopping. 27% say they’ll cut back on dining out. My siblings and I have a long-standing agreement not to buy one another Christmas gifts.
