The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns roared back from a 10-0 deficit with nine unanswered runs, but could get no closer as Texas State scored three insurance runs in the ninth inning to take a 13-9 win Friday night at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

Texas State (29-13, 13-6 Sun Belt) sent 14 players to the plate in the fifth inning against three Cajun pitchers, scoring nine runs to give the Bobcats a 10-0 lead.  A three run homer by Felipe Rodriguez was the big blow in the inning.

The Cajuns (20-25, 8-11) got three of the runs back in the fifth inning, two on a double by Brennan Breaux and scored two more in the fifth on Todd Lott's two run single.

Louisiana then got within one run in the sixth on two hits, a walk and three hit batsmen to get within 10-9, but that would be the end of the scoring for the Cajuns.

The Bobcats got three insurance runs in the ninth, two on a bases loaded double by WIll Hollis to put the game away.

Kyle Bradford (1-0) was credited with the win, being charged with two unearned runs in 1.2 innings of work.  Zachary Leigh got his third save of the season.  Brandon Young (2-5) was charged with six hits and five runs, four earned in 4.1 innings of work, taking the loss.

Jalen Hubbard and Will Hollis led the 14-hit attack for the Bobcats with three hits each.  Hubbard scored three times and Hollis drove in four runs.  Hayden Cantrelle, Orynn Veillon, Hunter Kasuls and Daniel Lahare had two hits each for the Cajuns.  Lott led the Cajuns with three RBI while O'Neal Lochridge and Brennan Breaux drove in two each.

Game two of the series is Saturday at 4:00 pm.
