After 11 hours of negotiating Thursday, the NBA owners offered the players a revised deal. If the players accept, a 72 game season would begin on December 15th. However, the players did not accept the deal, choosing instead to regroup and meet with the owners on Monday or Tuesday.

The NBA announced today that the entire 114-game preseason schedule has been canceled because a new collective bargaining agreement has not been reached with the National Basketball Players Association. If no deal is done by Monday, the first two weeks of the regular season will be canceled.

After spending 5 days in Los Angeles, the Hornets return home to New Orleans for Game 3 of their first round playoff series versus the Lakers. Tip-off tonight is set for 8:30 at a soldout Hive.

The Hornets will return to New Orleans tied 1-1 with the L.A. Lakers in the best-of-seven playoff series. New Orleans missed a golden opportunity to go up 2-0, but fell to the Lakers Wednesday night 87-78. Trevor Ariza led all scorers with 22 points.

The Hornets defeated the Lakers in L.A. Sunday 109-100. With the win, New Orleans takes an early 1-0 lead in the best of seven playoff series. The seventh seeded New Orleans Hornets are heavy underdogs in the NBA playoffs as they battle the second seeded L.A. Lakers. One key matchup where the Hornets have an advantage is the battle of the point guards, Chris Paul and Derek Fisher.

The NBA playoff matchups are now set. With the Lakers overtime win over the Kings Wednesday night, they secured the 2 seed, setting up a matchup with the 7 seeded New Orleans Hornets.

All in all, the Hornets played well on the West Coast Friday night. In the end, it wasn't enough. The Lakers beat the Hornets 101-97. David West scored 23 and pulled down 12 boards.
