Second-seeded Florida Atlantic took advantage of some sloppy defense by Western Kentucky and rode a three-run third inning to a 4-3 win over the 7th seeded Hilltoppers at the Sun Belt conference softball tournament at Lamson Park in Lafayette.

The game turned when Western Kentucky made two errors in the third inning which allowed the Owls (32-24) a chance to get on the scoreboard.  An error scored the first run, a Carly Sperrin single got the second run home and a third run scored on a wild pitch.

FAU got another run in the fourth inning on a two out single by Heather Barnes to make the score 4-0.  The Toppers (29-28) came back with three runs in the fifth, highlighted by Amanda Thomas' two run single, but All-Conference selection Rose Gressley kept WKU off the board the rest of the way.

The win puts FAU into a meeting with #3 South Alabama tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.  Western Kentucky faces ULM in an elimination game tomorrow morning at 10am.
