There were only three games involving Sun Belt schools this past Saturday.  Troy defeated Georgia State on Thursday and Arkansas State hosts Appalachian State Tuesday night on ESPN2.

Here's what happened on Saturday:

GEORGIA SOUTHERN 48, SOUTH ALABAMA 13--In Statesboro, Shai Werts rushed for two touchdowns and threw for third in leading the Eagles (4-1, 2-0 Sun Belt) to the lopsided win. Werts rushed for 85 yards and threw for 99.  Evan Orth led the Jaguars (1-5, 1-2) with 197 yards passing.

LOUISIANA 42, TEXAS STATE 27--Elijah Mitchell rushed for a career high 191 yards and three touchdowns, while Trey Ragas added 100 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown as the Cajuns (2-3, 1-1 Sun Belt) raced out to a 28-0 halftime lead.  Tyler Vitt threw for three touchdowns in the second half to keep the Bobcats (1-4, 0-2) in the game.

OLE MISS 70, ULM 21--Jordan Ta'amu threw for 374 yards and accounted for five touchdowns for the Rebels (4-2).  Ta'amu threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more before sitting out the second half.  ULM (2-4) accounted for 427 yards in total offense in the game.
