For the second time in their three game series, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns came back from a big deficit, but came up short as Texas State won its tenth straight game, beating the Cajuns 10-8 Sunday afternoon at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

Just as it was on Friday, free baserunners proved to be the downfall of the Cajuns, as the pitching staff walked ten and hit three batters.  Seven of those free baserunners crossed home plate in the contest, allowing the Bobcats to get the win despite being outhit 13-7l

The Bobcats (31-13, 15-6 Sun Belt) scored five times in the first inning off starter Logan Savoy (1-2) and reliever Blake Schultz.  Jalen Hubbard opened the inning with a single and after Jaxon Williams flied out, Savoy walked the next three hitters to force in the first run.  Schultz walked the first batter he faced for the second run of the inning.  A sacrifice fly by Skyler Valentine and a two run single by Wesley Faison capped the five run inning.

The Cajuns got two of the runs back in the bottom of the first on Daniel Lahare's two run single and got another run in the second on a home run by O'Neal Lochridge, his first homer as a Cajun.  Lahare's ground out in the third cut the lead to 5-4.

But a double by Hubbard, an RBI single by Williams and a run scoring hit by Will Hollis got two runs back for the Bobcats and they increased the lead to 9-4 in the sixth on a pair of walks off reliever Caleb Armstrong, a sacrifice and a two run single by Valentine.

Starter Connor Reich (6-1) held the Cajuns at bay until the seventh when Brennan Breaux and Tremaine Spears led off with singles.  Lochridge greeted reliever Kyle Bradford with an RBI single and Hayden Cantrelle followed with a base hit.  A fielder's choice ground out by Hunter Kasuls and a ground out by Todd Lott brought two runs home and Orynn Veillon's single got the Cajuns within a run at 9-8.  Lahare then singled and Handsome Monica was hit by a pitch to load the bases but Braden Theriot struck out Breaux to end the inning.

Texas State added an insurance run on a base hit by Dalton Shuffield in the eighth and Theriot shut down the Cajuns in the final two innings to earn his third save and complete the sweep.

The loss was the seventh straight for the Cajuns (20-27, 8-13 Sun Belt), who were led by three hits from Cantrelle and two each from Lott, Lahare and Lochridge.  Hubbard had a pair of hits for Texas State.

The Cajuns travel to Coastal Carolina next weekend.
