It was a rough beginning to the season for Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns kicker Stevie Artigue as he began the year just 2/6 on field goals. There were questions swirling whether or not the Lafayette High grad would figure things out and remain the kicker throughout the season.

However, since beginning 2/6 he's flipped the script by nailing 11 field goals in a row while missing just one extra point this entire season in 54 attempts.

On Saturday, Artigue had his best game of the season in a 53-3 blowout of the Troy Trojans where he hit on all three of his field-goal attempts (49, 45, 31) and put through all six of his extra points. He also moved into a tie for third place on Louisiana's all-time scoring list with Brian Mitchell at 286 total points.

Monday, the Sun Belt Conference recognized Artigue's perfect game by awarding him as the conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

This is the second time this season that a Cajun has won the award. The first time was on October 9th against Appalachian State when punter Rhys Byrns won it despite a 17-7 loss by UL.

The Cajuns will wrap up their regular season this weekend as they host in-state rival UL-Monroe at 6:30 p.m.
