For the second straight off--season, LSU is in the market for a defensive coordinator.

After losing John Chavis to Texas A&M, the Tigers learned today Kevin Steele will leave for the same position at another SEC West rival, Auburn.  The hiring was announced by Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn after Auburn's victory over Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl.

Steele's contract terms at Auburn were not released, but he was making a million dollars a year at LSU.  Steele will owe LSU $500,000 as a buyout.

LSU was thought to make a pitch to try to keep Steele, but at Auburn he would have a chance to get vetted into the Alabama retirement system.

It is known that Miles talked to six different coaches a year ago before deciding on Steele.
