A local standout has been offered an opportunity to extend his football career by a couple of different schools.

Bailey Mitchell, a defensive back from St. Martinville Senior High School, has been offered a chance to play for St. Thomas College and Rockford University.

St. Thomas Aquinas, located in Sparkill, New York, is a Division II school, which are allowed to offer partial scholarships.

Rockford University, located in Rockford, Illinois, is a Division III, which do not offer athletic scholarships, but can still offer a spot on their respective rosters.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Mitchell will begin his senior season in the fall, and is scheduled to graduate next spring.

Mitchell also does well in the classroom, carrying a 3.8 GPA, to go along with a score of 24 on his ACT.
