Trailing, 35-33, SMU went for two points with 1:19 to go. Scrambling, and in all kinds of trouble, SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert hit Jeremy Johnson Johnson in the back of the end zone to tie the game, 35-35.

Despite the thrilling play, Rutgers won in double overtime, 55-52.
