Should RG3 Win The Heisman Trophy?

The 2011 Heisman Trophy will be handed out on Saturday, in Manhattan, New York.

The five finalists for this year's award are Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III, Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, Alabama running back Trent Richardson, Wisconsin running back Montee Ball, and LSU defensive back Tyrann Mathieu.

Griffin has been the player that has been getting a lot of late-season support. And why not? He's thrown for just shy of 4,000 yards (3,998), along with 36 touchdowns, and only six interceptions for a Baylor team that has won nine games for the first time in 25 years.

Is that enough to vault Griffin past the other four finalists, including Luck, who was the preseason favorite to win the award, and the likely top choice in the 2012 NFL Draft?

Just comparing Griffin to Luck, Griffin has more passing yards (3,998-3,170), more passing touchdowns (36-35), fewer interceptions (6-9), more rushing yards (644-153), and more rushing touchdowns (9-2).

Statistically speaking, Griffin looks to be a better choice than Luck.

Now, what about the other three candidates. Should Griffin get the vote over them as well?
