Shaquille O'Neal has always been known as a man with a sense of humor. So, was he joking when he told a reporter he was paid while playing at LSU?

O'Neal appeared at the 12th annual Lakers All-Access Monday at the Staples Center, where he made the comment to Lakers' beat writer Mike Bresnahan.  Bresnahan quoted O'Neal in a tweet.

Shaq on his years at LSU: “Yes, they paid very well." Then he added, "Hey, the statute of limitations is up." He was laughing.

He then made another comment to reporter Baxter Holmes concerning his son, Shareef, a 2018 prospect:

Shaq wants his son to play @ LSU: “You can probably get a house, you can get 2 cars. I’ll set it up for you. I know some people down there."

Surely O'Neal is going to say he was joking.  But the NCAA and LSU probably aren't laughing this morning.
