The New Orleans Saints came into the 3rd preseason game with a 1-1 record and the big question was will Drew Brees play in this game? That question was answered pretty quickly as he went out on the field on the Saints opening drive and played until almost halfway through the 2nd quarter and the Saints would come away with a win as they improved to 2-1 in the preseason.

Drew Brees only threw two passes on the opening drive and his 2nd pass was intercepted by Derwin James, the 1st round pick for the Chargers. The Chargers would take their opening drive all the way down the field and go for it on 4th and goal but the Saints would come up with the big stop.

The Saints would get the ball on their own 5 yard line on the following drive but they could only muster a few yards before punting the ball away. The Chargers would march down the field once again and this time they would run it in for the touchdown as they would get the first points in the game to go up 7-0. The Saints would take an 8-7 lead in the 2nd quarter as Alvin Kamara runs it in for the touchdown and Brees throws it to Michael Thomas for the 2 point conversion.

The Saints would add to their lead with 1:46 remaining in the first half as Wil Lutz connected on a field goal to give the Saints an 11-7 lead. The Saints would force a quick 3 and out and would add another field goal to go up by a touchdown at the end of the 1st half.

The 2nd half started off slow for both teams but the Saints would get another touchdown to add to their lead as Taysom Hill would run it in for the touchdown and get the 2 point conversion to go up 22-7. CB Marcus Williams picked off Geno Smith's pass on the following drive and ran it all the way back for a touchdown and the Saints would add another 2 point conversion to go up 30-7 in the 4th quarter. The Saints would add another touchdown late in the 4th quarter to push their lead to 36-7.

The Saints would hold off the Chargers and not allow them to score anymore and they will finish the preseason on Thursday night as they face off against the Los Angeles Rams at home.
