As Alvin Kamara nurses an ankle and knee injury, the New Orleans Saints signed running back Zach Zenner today, per NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport.

To make room for Zenner on the active roster, the Saints released linebacker Stephone Anthony, though he could be called back to the roster soon according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

Zenner, who broke into the league as an undrafted free agent out of South Dakota State, spent his first four seasons (2015-2018) with the Detroit Lions, before being released on August 27th.

In his rookie season, Zenner played under offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, who is now the quarterbacks coach for the Saints.

In 36 career games, Zenner has rushed for 685 yards and 8 touchdowns on 174 attempts, and has caught 27 passes for 263 yards.

It's unclear if Kamara will be able to play this Sunday in Chicago against the Bears.
