In need of special teams help and depth on defense, the New Orleans Saints signed linebacker Sam Barrington and safety Shiloh Keo, per Sean Payton.

Barrington and Keo join tight end John Philips as new Saints signees this week.

Last week, New Orleans placed linebacker and defensive captain James Laurinaitis on injured reserve. Yesterday, they cut defensive tackle John Jenkins.

Barrington (pictured above) is a 4 year veteran inside linebacker. He was a 7th round draft pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2013, spending three years with the club before being waived in September.

Kansas City signed him off waivers, playing him in two games before waiving him last week.

He's started 8 games during his career, accumulating 56 tackles (43 solo), a sack and pass defensed.

Keo is a 5'11, 208 lb safety who Saints coach Sean Payton hopes will help on special teams.

"(Keo is) smart with good instincts, can play safety, can play dime at the linebacker position and someone that we think can help in the kicking game as well," said Payton on a media conference call.

Drafted in the 5th round by the Houston Texans in 2011, Keo played 4 seasons in Houston before spending last year with the Denver Broncos.
